Saturday, Octobar 21, 2006 Burhakaba falls into the hands of Gheddi governmentBurhakaba, Somalia
The city of Burhakaba is captured by troops loyal to Gheddi government. These troops took the control of the city early Saturday morning when local militias moved out of the city and relocated themselves to unknown positions. The government troops led by colonel Afguduud is accompanied by heavily armed Ethiopian troops according to people who fled towards Lego, Lower Shabelle. Gheddi government spokesman claims that government troops came to Burhakaba peacefully and with the request of the local people who opposed United Slummy Courts to advance. This is not the first time government troops came calmly in Burhakaba and it is not clear that the government troops will stay, advance to Lower Shabelle or return to Baidoa as they did earlier. On the other hand, United Slummy Courts militias were nowhere to be seen for resistance. A heavily armed brigade called "Devil's Brigade" led by Adan Hashi Ayrow, is expected to deploy militias to protect Lower Shabelle region. Burhakaba is now calm and the majority of the people oppose United Slummy Courts to come to Bay region.
